Learning to drive in Cwmbran
Most first lessons start on the quiet estates around Croesyceiliog, Fairwater and Coed Eva, where there's room to practise moving off and stopping. Once you're comfortable, lessons move on to the town's roundabouts, the A4051 and the A4042 dual carriageway, and later the roads around the Newport (Gwent) test centre about 15 minutes away. Pupils from Croesyceiliog School, Cwmbran High and the Torfaen Learning Zone are often picked up straight from school or college.
Dafydd plans every lesson around where you are and what you need next. In and around Cwmbran, that usually means:
- the many roundabouts around the town centre
- the A4042 dual carriageway towards Pontypool and Newport
- the A4051 towards Newport and quiet estate roads for first lessons
